Biography
Matthew Adams is a Professional Geologist with 18 years of global experience in the energy sector. Most recently he was Manager of a multi-disciplined team of subsurface subject matter experts, within a Fortune 500 company. In this role he evaluated and advised on the techno-commercial value of unconventional assets around the world, improved workflows and integration, advised on risk quantification and mitigation, and evaluated the viability of novel technologies. These technologies include hydraulic fracture fluid chemistry optimization, fugitive methane emissions identification, post fracture analysis and its relation to induced seismicity, and geothermal energy for CO2 reduction. Prior to this he managed the geological operations for Canada’s most active drilling program, helping grow the organization to the nation’s largest natural gas resource holder in only 3 years.
Matt has been involved with Professor Grasselli’s Geomechanics Group since 2017 and joined as a Business Development Manager in September 2021. In this capacity he is focused on building relationships between the group and industry, working together on shared goals that are built on the foundation of scientific backed learnings with tangible field application to drive value.
Living at the foothills of the Canadian Rocky Mountains, he enjoys getting out hiking, biking, skiing, fishing, camping and simply exploring with his young family in the mountains.
